Assistant Stage Managers
Salary
£1,150 per week for performances (£1,100 per week for rehearsals)

Show schedule
Performances are 6 days per week, typically Tuesday – Sunday. The performance schedule during previews varies and shall be confirmed at point of contract.

We are looking for applicants for multiple Assistant Stage Manager roles. Duties and Responsibilities
- Assisting the production and Stage Management teams with the running of rehearsals and performances, performing tracks and conducting maintenance;
- Ensuring that stage and rehearsal environments are set-up and maintained as required with appropriate set, props, mark-ups and other effects as necessary;
- Assisting the Stage Management and creative teams with rehearsal requirements and requests;
- Performing ASM plots as directed by the Stage Manager, which may include onstage cues in costume;
- Supporting pre-show checks, scene changes, resets and post-show duties, understudy rehearsals and press/promotional activity as required;
- Maintaining props, cue sheets, show track paperwork and ASM bibles as required;
- Liaising with the Stage Manager and relevant departments regarding the condition of props, scenic items and other production elements;
- Assisting with the safe and consistent running of production elements allocated to Stage Management, in accordance with training, risk assessments and show procedures;
- Learning other plots within the department and providing absence cover for other members of the department as necessary;
- Working collaboratively with all other departments including the technical team in order to ensure the smooth running of the production;
- Representing the Producer with diplomacy, discretion and courtesy at all times, safeguarding confidential information;
- Any other reasonable duty that would normally fall within the remit of an Assistant Stage Manager based on industry norms and practice.
Person Specification
- Demonstrable professional experience as an Assistant Stage Manager on a production of a similar scale on tour or in the West End;
- Previous experience working with props, cue sheets, show tracks and rehearsal room set-up;
- Experience with performer flying and/or technically complex production;
- A broad range of Stage Management experience and a willingness to work flexibly across allocated ASM tracks;
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with excellent attention to detail;
- A calm and practical approach to technical troubleshooting;
- The ability to work well with actors, creative teams and other backstage departments;
- The ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise;
- Good understanding of comic timing;
- Knowledge of SOLT/Equity union agreements;
- Awareness of current Health & Safety legislation including COSHH, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
